More '80s. My favorite Clash Song: Straight to Hell
OK, I'm old and I get nostalgic for the music of my musically formative years, in my case, the '80s. Here's one of my all time favorites from that decade. Buy anything by Split Enz or Crowded House. Good stuff!

I've never heard of Kim Lenz and the Jaguars but liked the CD cover.
Rattlesnakes by Lloyd Cole and the Commotions
Just read a mini-review of the movie "On the Waterfront" which made me think of this song. You'll see why as soon as it reaches the chorus. I've never seen the movie, but the review has made me want to. I'll put it on my list. I really like the song by the way. The missus and I saw Lloyd Cole play solo several years back at the Rams Head Tavern. Pretty good show.
Who's Gonna Mow Your Grass by Buck Owens
This is kind of an amazing
power pop song from an unlikely source. Don't be a snob, give it a
listen. I assume this was released sometime in the '60s and it has a
very unique sound to it. Definitely not Hee Haw and definitely does not
sound dated.
When I Write the Book by Nick Lowe and Jonell Mosser
Here's an original plus a cover. Both are excellent and worth listening too.
Billy Gray by Robert Earl Keen
Wow its been a long time. So long that I shouldn't call it "song of the day". But I'll try to do better. This song makes me wish that I were more musical. Because its the type of song that I'd love to play and sing. Its a very nice one by Texas songwriter Robert Earl Keen.

Hey, in other news, I watched my daughter play Mrs. Bucket in a local production of Willie Wonka and was very proud. Hey, she can sing also. All the kids were good.
Took my son to the pool. It was float night, so pretty crowded. Being autistic, he doesn't interact much with the other kids, but he loves being near them. There's a kid that I've seen the past several years who seems to be one of those naturally cool kids. I've noticed that each time he sees Kevin, he makes it a point to say hi. It happened tonight. He passed Kevin and said "Hey, Kevin". Nothing more, no big deal, but I'm always touched when I see that.
Its interesting that my daughter likes discipline somewhat. Our pool has hired a new management company and they run a much looser ship than the previous group of lifeguards. This bothers my daughter quite a bit. She dislikes kids swimming where they're not supposed to be, running on the pool deck, etc. She actually prefers the more orderly, disciplined environment. Who knew?
Kids are off to camp, so the wife and I get our annual 4 days on our own. We're heading to Punta Cana for a couple of days of nothing at all. I may be tempted to ruin it with a round of golf, but even so, I'm looking forward to the trip. Maybe I'll post photos.

Day Old Blues by Kings of Leon
I first heard of Kings of Leon when I visited my friend Mike in Birmingham. He brought me to one of their concerts. They were ok. I got a copy of their album but rarely listened to it. Heard this one this morning and liked the wordless chorus.
